PHN’s Best Shots of the Game: Soares leads Stoney Creek down the comeback trail

DUNDAS—Josh Soares with two goals and an assist in the third period turned what had appeared to be possible win by the Dundas Real McCoys over the first place Stoney Creek Generals into a 9-6 loss tonight in the Harry Howell Arena.

Stoney Creek leads the Allan Cup Hockey league with a record of 14 wins, 3 losses and an overtime loss.

In other action tonight, Whitby Dunlops lead the Hamilton Steelhawks 5-3 in Hamilton’s Dave Andreychuk Arena.

Dundas Real McCoys goalie Mike Mole comes up strong against Nathan Pageau of the Stoney Creek Generals during first period action last night in the Harry Howell Arena.

In addition to Soares, Stoney Creek got a goal and three assists from Tim Kennedy and a goal and two assists from Scott Hotham and Chris Campoli.  Jarrett Konkle, Cam Fergus, and Justin Dacosta.  Andy Hotham and Nathan Pageau set up two Stoney Creek scoring plays each.

For Dundas, Phil Brewer scored three times and added an assist. Brad Bonello added a goal and two assists with Cam Watson and Simon Mangos, Simon getting a goal each. Nathan Longpre set up three of the McCoys scoring plays, and Joey de Concilys set up a pair.

Dundas led 3-2 after the first period, and the clubs were tied 4-4 after 40 minutes of play.

The next action for Dundas is next Friday (January 18th) when they play the Hamilton Steelhawks at 7:30 p.m. in the Harry Howell Arena.  The Howell Arena is situated west of Clappison’s Corners at the junction of Highways 5 and 6 in Waterdown.
