PHN’s Best Shots of the Game: Sheffield thrash Stars, 8-2

SHEFFIELD, UK – Eight different scorers for the Steelers tonight as they once again defeated the Dundee Stars 8-2 at ICE Sheffield.

Jonus Westerling sat out tonight’s game as he continues his recovery from injury. This game is number 5 in the 6 game suspension against Colton Fretter.

Head coach Paul Thompson will be concerned about knocks tonight to both mathieu Roy and Zack Fitzgerald.

Sheffield killed an early Levi Nelson tripping minor after just 57 seconds.

Steelers then hit two goals in 17 seconds to take control. First Andreas Valdix put Sheffield ahead at 04.03

Then Andre Deveaux scored unassisted at 04.20 for the 2-0 advantage.

Stars quickly pulled back a goal of their own when Taylor Dickin found the back of the net at 06.16.

The new dad in town Ben O’Connor extended the lead once again when he fired top corner in the 13th minute.

Steelers took the 3-1 advantage into the first period break but started the second period killing a 2 minute cross checking penalty against Deveaux.

Deveaux returned to the ice to see Levi Nelson add a 4th goal (assisted Valdix and Dowd) at 22.12

Andreas Jamtin netted a 5th at 29.23 (Wallace)

Mark Matheson was called for tripping at 35.01 giving the Stars some power-play time however Jonathan Phillips stole the puck and supported by Brady Ramsay, the two exchanged some sweet passes before Phillips converted short handed at 36.10 for a 6-1 scoreline after 40 minutes.

The Steelers came out of the blocks slowly in the third – Brad Day had replaced Ervins Mustukovs on goal and had to make some early big saves.

There was nothing he could do though to stop Malcom Gould scoring Dundee’s 2nd 2.12 seconds into the period.

Steelers hit back, with Stars player coach Omar Pasha sitting out 2 minutes for hooking the power-play clicked as Robert Dowd fired home a 7th

Then with just 50 seconds on the clock the Steelers equalled the score of the last game between the two sides here at ICE Sheffield, Scott Aarssen firing past Fullerton for a final score of Steelers 8-2 Dundee Stars.
