PHN’s Best Shots of the Game: Rampage top Wolves 5-2

ROSEMONT, IL – The San Antonio Rampage (30-18-5-0) scored four unanswered goals and tied a season-high with three coming on the power-play to power past the Chicago Wolves  (27-20-5-1) 5-2 in front of 6,157 at Allstate Arena Sunday afternoon. The Rampage finish this year’s season series against the Wolves 2-1-1-0. After meeting four of six opponents of this year’s Rodeo Road Trip, the Rampage are 3-3-1 through seven games.
Logan Shaw and Connor Brickley had multi-point games in the win, and Bobby Butler had his third multi-goal game of the season.
Brent Sopel scored his first goal of the season at 10:35, scoring from the right side of Michael Houser to give Chicago a 1-0 lead through the end of the first period.
Brickley picked up the puck from a Shaw rebound to give the Rampage the tying tally on the man-advantage at 7:04. From the left circle, Butler gave the Rampage a 2-1 lead with a power-play wrister over the shoulder of Jordan Binnington at 9:03. For their third unanswered goal in a span of 3:21, Butler notched another to give San Antonio a two-goal lead at the end of 40 minutes.
Mark Mancari took a feed from Brickley and slid the puck between the pipes and the pads of Binnington on the power play to give the Rampage a 4-1 lead at 12:36 of the final frame. This was Mancari’s second goal against his former team this season and resulted in Matt Climie taking over in net for the relief effort. The Wolves followed with a goal from Shane Harper at 16:30 with an extra attacker on the ice for a late rally attempt. Shaw scored San Antonio’s sixth empty-net goal of the season with a center ice shot to seal the deal for the Silver and Black, 5-2.
In his 18th start of the season and third career against the Wolves, Houser made 21 saves on 23 shots. San Antonio recorded 27 shots in the game and stopped all five of Chicago’s power-play opportunities.
