PHN’s Best Shots of the Game: Panthers edge Sheffield, 3-2

SHEFFIELD, UK –  Robert Dowd scored twice in the final period but it wasn’t enough to take a share of the points against the Panthers on Saturday night at the Arena.

Steelers controlled the majority of the game and outshot the Panthers 60-30 with Nottingham goalie Patrick Galbraith in incredible form.

Zack Phillips scored the only goal of the opening period at 6.15, a solo effort that rounded Ervins Mustukovs.

Davey Phllips clashed with Jeff Brown in the 7th minute with the Panthers forward collecting the 2 and 10 instigating penalties.

Nottingham then hit two second period goals without reply when first Vaskivuo and then Mosey extended the lead to 3-0
With a 3rd period shot count of 25-8 the Steelers never gave up and eventually the goal came when Robert Dowd pounced on a rebound to fire past Galbraith at 45.27

With the momentum all in the Steelers favour Dowd then scored his and the Steelers 2nd at 54.53

Ervins Mustukovs was pulled for the extra attacker and Levi Nelson hit the post.

Just 63 seconds remaining when the Steelers took their first minor penalty, Andreas Valdix for tripping. Mustukovs was pulled again but the equalising goal couldn’t be scored and the Panthers head home with the points.

Final score: Steelers 2-3 Nottingham Panthers.
