PHN’s Best Shots of the Game: Oilers fall flat in Wichita

Tulsa Oilers forward Josh Nelson (28)

WICHITA, Kan. – If you were an Oilers fan, this game was not fun to watch.  It was not fun in person, but I’m sure it wasn’t fun watching over streaming services as well.  The Thunder (the home team) were in their first of four games in five days.   Unfortunately, for the Oilers, the home team were motivated to get as many wins out of these four games as possible, and the first would be their freshest condition.

The Tulsa Oilers faced a tough match against the Wichita Thunder, ultimately falling 7-1 at INTRUST Bank Arena. The game saw Ryan Finnegan and Brayden Watts scoring early for Wichita, putting them ahead in the first period. Although Josh Nelson managed to score a power-play goal for Tulsa, Mikael Stinil quickly extended Wichita’s lead. The third period saw Jason Pineo, Jay Dickman (who scored twice), and Nick Nardella adding to Wichita’s tally. Notably, Josh Nelson’s goal marked a memorable moment in his first professional game.
