GLASGOW, UK – Nottingham Panthers out muscled and out fought a lacklustre Braehead Clan to win the first of their Scottish triple header 5-1. From the start Panthers outgunned The Clan and controlled the puck in all departments.
Panthers came out in the second period and were soon 3 up when Ling scored the at 22:45. This was quickly followed by Fox at 25:02. Sam Zajac became entangled with Lepine at 27:40 and it looked like a foolhardy decision given the size and weight difference between the two men, with Lepine standing at 6′ 4″ and weighing in at 218 lbs while Zajac stands at 5’7” and weighs 170 lbs. Nevertheless, it was a brave but ultimately futile effort to fire up the Clan, when Galivan scored Panthers final goal of the evening at 29:18.
Braehead did manage to pull back a consolation goal late in the second when Jade Galbraith netted at 37:40
The third period was equally one sided, however, the Panthers were unable to increase their lead and appeared to be saving some energy for the following 2 games on consecutive nights.
