The scoring opened up at 3:38 of the first period with a drop pass from Mario Lucia to Steven Fogarty who ripped a shot past the UMass goaltender Nic Renyard and found the back of the net. Notre Dame struck again at the 7:02 mark when Joe Wegwerth laid a wraparound pass from behind the UMass goal to find Dawson in the slot who buried it past Renyard.

The score remained the same until 15:33 into the second period when Notre Dame’s Thomas DiPauli wheeled from the corner to the top of the slot then fired a backhand, through traffic, into the back of the net.

The Minutemen’s lone goal came early in the third period when Shane Walsh netted a bullet from the high slot past Irish net minder Cal Petersen. Ben Gallacher and William Lagesson credited with the assists.

Petersen stood tall in net for the Irish stopping 27 of 28 shots and earning him the First Star of the game. Renyard stopped 27 of 30 shots on net for the Minutemen. Jordan Gross had two assists for Notre Dame.
