PHN’s Best Shots of the Game: North Dakota outlasts Michigan, reaches Frozen Fout

CINCINNATI – North Dakota blew open a 2-2 game midway through the third period with three goals in a six-minute span to win the NCAA Midwest Regional championship and advance to the Frozen Four in Tampa. The Fighting Hawks will play the winner of the West Regional championship game between Denver and Ferris State.

Drake Caggiula got North Dakota on the board in the first period when he scored off a rebound from his own shot. Michigan’s JT Compher tied in the second period, but North Dakota regained the lead with 46 seconds left in the second period when Luke Johnson beat Steve Racine unassisted.

Compher scored his second of the game on the power play to tie it up, but North Dakota’s late flurry won it.
