MELBOURNE, Australia – Fraser Carson stopped 23 shots as he backstopped the Melbourne Mustangs to a 4-2 win over the Sydney Bears in the last week of June.
A tight affair through two periods, the Mustangs broke the match open with two goals midway through the final stanza to take a 3-1 lead before the Bears made it close off a goal from Michael Schlamp to cut the lead to 3-2.
Vadim Virjassov put the game away with an unassisted marker in the final minutes of the game to give the Mustangs the win.
Vadim Virjassov took the loss on 26 saves off 30 shots.
