MELBOURNE, Australia – Sydney Ice dogs travelled to Melbourne to take on the
Melbourne Mustangs. This should be a good battle between 4th and 5th on the ladder.
Saturday, the first period the Ice Dogs had the puck most of the time and at the end of the 1st it was 1 all, this continued into the second, it was a tight affair with a fist fight, it was a thrilling game and at the end of the second it was 2 all. In the 3rd it was all about keeping composure until the end but the Mustangs were on fire and out scored the Ice Dogs 3 to 1. Final score on Saturday was Mustangs 5-3
Sunday and the teams matched each other again, The Sydney Ice dogs was able to score one into the back of the net, for the only score at the end of the first. Mustangs tried everything but was not able to find the back of the net, they were just out classed on the day. Sydney Ice Dogs was able to finish the game like they started through Grant Toulmin scoring to 2 goals. Final score Sydney Ice Dogs 5 to Mustangs 1.
From the week end both teams take 3 points and with only 1 point that separates the two teams, the Mustangs are in 4th spot and still half the season to go, there is a lot of hockey still to be played.
