PHN’s Best Shots of the Game: Mississippi RiverKings downs Huntsville in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

HUNTSVILLE, AL – Mississippi RiverKings’ Todd Hosmer scored 3:56 into overtime to beat the Huntsville Havoc, 3-2 (OT).

Mississippi RiverKings was led by Hosmer, who registered one goal and one assist.

Mississippi RiverKings was often in penalty trouble, totaling seven minors and two majors for 24 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 13.0 minutes per game Mississippi RiverKings had been spending in the box. Mississippi RiverKings put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Huntsville to score on any of its three power plays. Mississippi RiverKings relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Matt Harrington, Bret Peppler and Reid Campbell took 17 of the team’s 31 shots.

Mississippi RiverKings also got a goal from Linden Bahm as well. In addition, Mississippi RiverKings received assists from Charles Mosey, who had one.

The Havoc racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 11 minors and two majors for 32 minutes in penalty time. Huntsville surpassed its season average of 24.0 penalty minutes per game. With 34 shots on target during the contest, the Havoc exceeded the 26.4 shots they average per game this year.

Huntsville was helped by John Lidgett, who had one goal. Lidgett scored 18:22 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Kyle McNeil picked up the assist. Scott Henegar also scored for Huntsville. Other players who recorded assists for Huntsville were Joshua Ranalli and Matt Robertson, who each chipped in one.

Mississippi RiverKings’ Garrett Sheehan stopped 32 shots out of the 34 that he faced. Mississippi RiverKings registered two goals on seven power play opportunities. Kevin Genoe rejected 28 shots on goal for the Havoc.
