In the final Great Lakes Invitational at Joe Louis Arena, Michigan Tech shutout Michigan 2-0 behind Dane Birks and Cliff Watson goals in the first semifinal on Thursday night. Hayden Levine made 36 saves for Michigan to keep the Wolverines in the game, but his team could only muster 23 shots on Angus Redmond. Redmond made 13 of those saves in the third period as the Wolverines pushed to get on the board and make it a game.
