INDEPENDENCE, MO — The Missouri Mavericks finished their 2014-15 home season with a 5-1 win over the Brampton Beast on Tuesday night at Independence Events Center in front of a sold out arena.  Mavs leading goal-scorer, Andrew Courtney, expanded on his franchise record for single-season goals with his thirty-sixth tally of Missouri’s inaugural ECHL campaign.

Rookie defenseman Chris Owens opened up the scoreboard for Missouri with his second pro career goal at 6:24 of the first period. Sebastien Thinel and Andrew Courtney were credited with the assists on the goal that gave the Mavs a 1-0 heading into the second period.

Missouri expanded on their lead twice-over before the Beast could notch their first tally.  Ludwig Karlsson, already riding a two-game, three-goal streak, scored at 4:28 of the second period with the help of John-Scott Dickson and defenseman Patch Alber.  Then rookie Brett Stovin scored his second pro goal at 6:06 for a 3-0 Missouri lead with assists from Colten Hayes and Thinel.  Brampton finally cut into the Mavs lead, 3-1 at 10:48 with a goal from former Mavs defenseman, Matt McCready.  Bobby Hughes took the lone assist on McCready’s third tally of the season.

Karlsson scored his second lamp-lighter of the night only 1:15 into the final frame, unassisted, to give Missouri a 4-1 advantage before Andrew Courtney built upon his franchise record for single-season goals with his thirty-sixth tally of the season.  Thinel and Hayes were credited with the helpers on the new franchise record and game-winning goal, at 7:05 of the third period.  Missouri held off the Beast for the remainder of regulation to clinch one final win at home before the end of the season.
