JACKSONVILLE, FLA – On Wednesday, November 17th, the Jacksonville Icemen hosted the Maine Mariners for the second game of a three-game set at the Vystar Veterans Memorial Arena. The Icemen were hoping to earn some revenge for the Mariners win on Tuesday but it was not to be as Maine won the hard-fought contest by a final of 2-1.

The host Icemen started the scoring 6:07 into the first period when one-time Mariner Jeff Taylor got all of a slap shot from the point that beat Maine goalie Zach Bouthillier. James Sanchez and Austin McEneny drew the assists on the score.

Less than 90 seconds later, Maine evened things up. Playing on a power play, Pascal Laberge sent the puck back to Brycen Martin at the point. Martin wound up and fired at the net where Justin Brazeau was in the right place to redirect the shot past Jacksonville goalie Charles Williams.

Midway through the middle frame, Maine took the lead when after being tangled up with an Icemen defender, Cam Askew was in the right place to one-time a feed from Mathew Santos past Williams. The score followed a defensive miscue by the Icemen in their own end of the ice.

The third period belonged to the Mariners defense and Bouthillier. Maine’s penalty killers, led by Bouthillier, successfully killed of three Jacksonville power plays. In all, Bouthillier stopped 19 Icemen shots in the final twenty minutes on the way to a 37-save night.
