JACKSONVILLE, FLA – On Friday, November 16th, the Wheeling Nailers visited the Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville to take on the Jacksonville Icemen. Led by Troy Joseph’s hat trick, the Nailers came away with a 4-1 win.
After a scoreless first period which featured the goalies – Tanner Jaillet for Jacksonville and veteran John Muse for Wheeling – Josephs opened the scoring 1:34 into the second off of assists by Nick Saracino and Michael Phillips. The score stayed that way until late in the frame when with Zac Lynch in the penalty box, Josephs tallied a short-handed goal with the help of Saracino and Kevin Spinozzi.
Midway through the third period, Josephs completed his hat trick when Saracino and Robbie Hall combined to set him up for his third score of the night. Jacksonville pulled Jaillet for an extra attacker and it paid off when Cam Maclise fed the puck to Dan DeSalvo who scored to pull the Icemen within 3-1.
That would be as close as Jacksonville would get as Lynch put the game out of reach with an empty net goal. Muse, who made 36 saves in the game, picked up the only assist on the score.
Jaillet finished the contest with 22 saves in a losing effort.
