Garett Bembridge opened the scoring for the Fuel with a blistering, power-play one-timer at 7:02 of the first period, the Saskatoon, Saskatchewan native’s 20th goal of the season, which, thanks to a slick setup from Nick Bruneteau and Nicklas Lindberg, delivered Indy a 1-0 lead. Late in the opening period, Kyle Thomas equalized for the Komets, as the Fort Wayne forward popped his third marker of the season, a sharp-angle rebound tapper from the right doorstep, past Indy goaltender Shane Owen at 16:44.

Fort Wayne tallied the middle frame’s lone goal as Shawn Szydlowski scalded his team-leading 23rd of the season past Owen at 14:12 to make it 2-1 Komets. In the third, Mike Duco redirected a Lindberg feed past Komets goaltender Roman Will at 11:26 to force overtime and, after a miraculous Owen save late in regulation, Anders Franzon zipped a game-winning tally past Will at 4:24 of the extra session to extend Indy’s ECHL-best road point streak to 12 games and deliver the Fuel their first-ever win over Fort Wayne.
