JACKSONVILLE, FLA – On Wednesday, November 27th, the Jacksonville Icemen opened their Thanksgiving weekend of play hosting the Greenville Swamp Rabbits at the Vystar Veterans Memorial Arena. Led by the Clark brothers, the Icemen feasted on their visitors with a 4-2 win.
Jacksonville came away with the lone goal of the first period when Charles-David Beaudoin and Mike Hedden helped to set up Emerson Clark for an even strength score at the 4:41 mark to put the home team up 1-0.
The Icemen doubled their lead midway through the second period when Brendan Warren lit the goal light off of assists from John Albert and Dajon Mingo. That score was quickly answered by the Swamp Rabbits’ Michael Pelech with the lone helper going to Liam Pecararo at 9:40. Jacksonville restored its two goal margin before the end of the frame on a power play goal when Albert set up Everett Clark.
The Swamp Rabbits drew back within one midway through the final stanza when Adam Rockwood fed Mason Baptista who scored. It was as close as Greenville would get as Emerson Clark sealed the win with an unassisted empty net tally with a minute left in regulation.
Michale McNiven played a strong game in net for the Icemen, making 18 saves to post the win.
