MELBOURNE, Australia – The Melbourne Ice posted three first period goals en route to a 4-1 win over their host Melbourne Mustangs.
Paul Baranzelli scored a power play goal and Lasse Lassen scored shorthanded to give the Ice all the goals they would need midway through the opening frame.
Lassen scored his second of the game with just over six minutes left in the first.
Eric Louis-Seize go the Mustangs on the board in the third period but the Ice added insurance with 1:22 left in the match.
Matt Armstrong assisted on all three first period goals.
The Ice will finish atop the AIHL ladder this season while the Mustangs will finish out of the playoff race in fifth position.
