MELBOURNE, Australia – After a solid 3-1 win over the Melbourne Mustangs on Saturday, the Sydney Bears got a quick goal from Nic Kawasaki Sunday to take a 1-0 lead over the Melbourne Ice.
But it went badly after that with the Ice responding with four unanswered goals in a 4-1 Ice victory.
Four different Ice skaters scored including Cassian Delsar, Lasse Lassen, Lliam Webster, and Joseph Hughes.
The game was a tight affair throughout until the Ice got the game-winner from Lassen at the 12:25 mark of the third.
The Bears kept it close until the Ice scored two power play markers in the final two minutes of the game.
With the win, the Ice moved to 51 points in the ladder, ten clear of the Newcastle North Stars. The Ice have two games in hand on the Stars.
The Bears lost the chance to overtake the Mustangs but still trail them by a point.
