PHN’s Best Shots of the Game: Ice Flyers win 3-1 for second straight win over Louisiana

PENSACOLA, Fla. – On December 18, the Pensacola Ice Flyers (10-6-1) downed the Louisiana IceGators (6-9-2) 3-1 for their second straight win over the Gators.

Pensacola got on the board first when Corey Banfield fired a puck that beat Louisiana goalie Brad Barone with 9:22 left in the first period. Cole Ruwe and John Clewlow assisted on Banfield’s 11th goal of the season.
Louisiana was able to tie the game up at one with 7:30 left in the second when Jeremy Boyer fired a shot on the power play that beat Ice Flyers goalie John McLean.
With the game tied at one, both team’s entered the third period hungry for a goal. The Ice Flyers broke the tie 11:47 into the third when Cole Ruwe rifled a long shot that beat Barone. It was Ruwe’s third goal of the season and was assisted by Corey Banfield. John Clewlow sealed the game with his third goal in two games as he scored an empty netter with 12.4 seconds remaining. Adam Pawlick had the lone assist on Clewlow’s goal.
McLean stopped 25 of Lousiana’s 26 shots and was named the third star of the game. Banfield was the second star and Ruwe was the number one star.
