PENSACOLA, Fla- The Pensacola Ice Flyers (12-14-6) outshot the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs (12-17-5) by a margin of 63-21 on Saturday night inside the Pensacola Bay Center but only managed to get two of those shots past Roanoke goalie Ryan de Melo.

Josh Cousineau opened the scoring 4:38 into the first when he scooped up a loose puck and flew down the length of the ice to put it behind de Melo. The Rail Yard Dawgs tied the game a little over 11 minutes later when Mitchell Mueller roofed the puck over John McLean. With 32.0 seconds remaining in the opening period, Roanoke’s Daniel Vernace scored on a shorthanded chance that trickled in before the ref blew his whistle.
The Ice Flyers tied the game up 4:42 into the second when Aaron Clarke fired a puck top shelf over de Melo’s right shoulder. John Gustafsson and Patrick Megannety had the assists on Clarke’s goal. The Dawgs regained the lead after an Ice Flyers player took a stick to the face and fell to the ice in the crease preventing McLean from getting back in position. Massimo Lamacchia fired the puck into the wide-open net for the go-ahead and eventual game-winning goal with 14:49 left in the third.
McLean stopped 18 of Roanoke’s 21 shots on goal. His record now stands at 4-4-0.
