PHN’s Best Shots of the Game: Ice Flyers down the Havoc 3-1, take 1-0 series lead

PENSACOLA, Fla. (April 14, 2016) – The Pensacola Ice Flyers (1-0) used goals from three different scorers to take Game One of their series with the Huntsville Havoc (0-1) by a score of 3-1 on Thursday night inside the Pensacola Bay Center.

Paul Rodrigues opened the scoring for the Ice Flyers with his third goal is as many games since returning to the team. He fired a one timer from the right wing circle that was assisted by Stephen Buco and Jeremy Gates 3:15 into the first.

After a scoreless second, the Ice Flyers took the 2-0 lead when Charlie Adams was parked right in front of the Havoc crease and batted in a rebound. Brandon Zurn and Josh Cousineau had the assists on the goal that was scored with 10:17 left in the third. Three seconds before Joey Holka left the penalty box, Huntsville’s John Lidgett scored a 5-on-3 power play goal to cut the Ice Flyers lead down to 2-1. Stephen Buco scored the dagger when he fired a shot from just outside of the blue line into the empty net to make it 3-1 with 23.2 seconds left in regulation.

Matt Zenzola stopped 20 of Huntsville’s 21 shots to secure the win. Pensacola swept the Three Stars with Buco being named third star, Rodrigues second, and Adams first.
