SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Sharks fell 5-4 to the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday night at the SAP Center. Carolina started the scoring late in the first period, when Eric Staal scored. In the second period, Carolina’s Andrej Nestrasil and Elias Lindholm (PP) scored two more. Tomas Hertl scored the lone Sharks goal. The Sharks scored three in the third, in an attempt to come from behind, but it wouldn’t be enough. Hertl and Logan Couture scored early for the Sharks. But the added goals from the Hurricane’s Andrej Sekera and an empty net goal from Victor Rask with just over a minute remaining would keep the game out of reach, despite a goal from Patrick Marleau with 55 seconds remaining.
