PHN’s Best Shots of the Game: Huntsville Unable to Overcome Early Deficit in 4-2 loss to Mississippi

HUNTSVILLE, AL – The Havoc register 42 shots on goal but are unable to overtake a three-goal first period and fall to the RiverKings 4-2 at the Von Braun Center Saturday afternoon.

Mississippi kicked off the scoring for the second time in the season series with a power play goal three minutes into the opening frame. Minutes later, Huntsville surrendered two more goals 3:22 apart from each other to enter the second in a three-goal hole.

In the middle frame, after giving up a shorthanded goal, Huntsville responded with pressure inside the offensive zone. Just over ten minutes into the second, Johnny Daniels wrapped around the net and popped a backhander over the shoulder of the Mississippi goaltender and into the back of the net.

Four minutes later, Daniels found another opportunity to get the Havoc on the board. While in the offensive zone, the Andover, M.A. native intercepted the puck and took a shot from the face-off circle. The puck then hit the blocker of the goaltender, flew straight up into the air and bounced into the open cage. Daniels second of the night at 14:33 cut the Mississippi lead in half heading to the third.

But after a flurry of shots, Huntsville could not bury home any rebounds in the third and fell to the Mississippi RiverKings 4-2.
