PHN’s Best Shots of the Game: Huntsville Unable to Hold Off Evansville in 4-3 Loss at Home

HUNTSVILLE, AL – The Havoc score, but are unable to hold off a third-period comeback by the Thunderbolts and fall to Evansville 4-3.

The Havoc scored two in the opening frame for the fourth straight game as the team kicked off the scoring 18 minutes into the first. While on the power play, Tyler French fed a pass up to the high slot for Andy Willigar; who fired the puck home and registering the game’s first goal. Johnny Daniels received the secondary assist on the Innisfail, Alta. native’s first as a Havoc at 18:04.

Fifteen seconds later, Scott Fellnermayr picked up the rebound off of a John Clewlow shot and sent it through the five-hole for his second of the season. Nolan Kaiser also received an assist on the goal and Huntsville walked into the second with a 2-0 lead on Evansville for the second straight game.

In the second, while shorthanded, Zach Carriveau feathered a pass up ice into the waiting stick of Jordan Wood. The Surrey, B.C. native walked in on a two-on-one opportunity and elected to take the shot over the blocker of goaltender Tanner Milliron for the three-goal lead 12:41 into the middle frame.

The Havoc entered the third with a three-goal lead for the second time in last three games when the Thunderbolts came roaring back. Evansville kicked off their comeback with a goal 35 seconds into the third and followed up with their second of the game 61 seconds later. Later in the period, Evansville tied the game up with their third unanswered goal while recording the eventual game winner halfway through the final frame of regulation.

The 4-3 loss is the first against Evansville this season and first regulation loss since November 26th, 2016. The Friday the 13th game saw Huntsville sport special “slasher” jerseys complete with the Jason Voorhees mask. The uniforms, which were auctioned off after the game, raised a total of $9,725 for the organization.
