HUNTSVILLE, AL –
HUNTSVILLE, AL – The Havoc record a goal in each period while Adam Courchaine stops 32 for the 4-0 victory against the Macon Mayhem at the Von Braun Center Friday.
“The guys put sixty minutes together tonight,” said Courchaine. “Last weekend was tough for our guys but we learned from the stretch. You have to play a full sixty and tonight we came out in all three periods and worked hard.”
Huntsville kicked off the night with a power play goal when Andy Willigar was fed a pass from the far half wall by Johnny Daniels to rocket his fourth of the year. Tyler French received the secondary assist on the man-advantage goal 4:10 into the first.
Later in the first, while on their second power play of the night, Daniels flipped his eighth of the year as a Havoc into the back of the net. The Andover, M.A. native took the shot after receiving a pass from French. Daniels watched as the puck bounced off the goaltender’s equipment and settled into the back of the net at 17:04.
“We are just keeping it simple during those power play chances while getting as many shots on net as we can,” said French.
With the team walking into the second with the lead for the third straight home game, Huntsville saw another rocket on Space Night at the Von Braun Center. This time the puck came off the stick of Nolan Kaiser, who fired it home, at 8:40. French came up with his second assist of the game to make it a 3-0 game.
“We wanted to come out and show them we are the top team in the league and we did that tonight,” said French.
After a physical second half of the second, the Havoc focused on shutting down the Mayhem rush while adding offensive pressure in the third. Sy Nutkevitch’s hard work in the far corner was rewarded when the Montreal, Que. native scooped up the loose rebound for his sixth of the year at 6:14.
Adam Courchaine came up with one final stop in the dying seconds of regulation to notch his second shutout of the year and fourth for the team overall.
“It’s all my team,” said the Havoc netminder. “When they keep the pucks to the outside and block shots while clearing rebounds; it makes my job easy.”
