PHN’s Best Shots of the Game; Havoc grab 4-1 victory over Columbus

COLUMBUS, GA – The Havoc scored two goals in the first period for the third straight game and took down the Columbus Cottonmouths by a final score of 4-1.

“Anytime you step onto the ice with this group you know we are going to work out there and I know we will have a chance to get the win,” said goaltender Adam Courchaine.

Huntsville kicked off the scoring for the fourth straight game as John Clewlow scored his sixth as a Havoc just 2:03 into the opening frame. The goal was the Brampton, Ont. native’s third on the breakaway in last two games.

“I hopped off the bench and the puck squirted out and meant that I had a clear lane to the net the whole way,” said Clewlow. “I have been known to get a few breakaways here and there and but now they seem to being going in, which feels good.”

Later in the period, Clewlow received a pass from Jordan Wood for his second of the game and his seventh point in last three games. Newcomer, Andy Willigar, in his first game as a Havoc playing in his old barn, registered the second assist on the goal.

In the second, Huntsville kept the pressure with Lou Educate potting home his 11th on the road and 16th of the season after receiving a feed from Eric Witzel.

But the Cottonmouths added pressure in the middle frame and were awarded for it with a goal nine minutes after the Havoc made it a three-goal game.

With Huntsville leading after two for the seventh straight game, the team came back out in the third and continued firing pucks on net. Johnny Daniels walked in, on the team’s fifth breakaway opportunity, and backhanded a shot into the pad of the Cottonmouths goaltender but received the rebounded and hit off the backside of the netminder for his sixth of the year.

“It feels good to be back,” said Daniels. “Anyone will tell you when your out of the lineup you miss it and it’s tough to watch and I just wanted to come back and help extend the win streak.”

The win marks the team’s fifth straight on the road while recording at least a point in eleven straight; both tying franchise marks.
