SHEFFIELD – A night to forget for the Steelers as they were embarrassed on home ice for the second time in a month by the Glasgow Clan.
Jonathan Phillips scored the Steelers only goal of the night but by that time the Steelers were already 6-0 down.
After playing so hard and so well last weekend hopes were high for another gritty performance however inside 10 minutes the Steelers were 2-0 down and the 7000 plus crowd silenced.
Guillaume Doucet scored his first of 3 after just 69 seconds, he then assisted on Brendan Connolly’s goal at 9.24.
If a 2-0 first period wasn’t bad enough the Clan scored 4 in the middle session with Ehrardt, Bjerrum and another 2 from Doucet sending the Steelers back into the room 6-0 down.
It was little more than a consolation goal by the captain at 44.14 as he wrapped the puck around Clan goalie Joel Rumpel.
No further scoring in the game took place and a despondent Steelers team now have just three days to put things right before Saturday’s crunch play off game against Coventry Blaze.
