ALLEN, Texas – The Fort Worth Brahmas had their three-game win streak snapped Sunday afternoon as they fell to the Allen Americans by the score of 4-2.
Allen got off to a hot start, grabbing a 2-0 lead in the first period behind goals from Jarret Lukin and Anthony Maiani. The Brahmas got back in the game with a strong second period, cutting the deficit in half. Nick Schneider got Fort Worth on the board at 5:12 when he fired a slapshot from between the circles past Allen netminder Aaron Dell. After Brian McMillin put the Americans up 3-1, Shawn Szydlowski notched his third goal of the season off of a feed from Austin Mayer to get the Brahmas back to within one. Adam Pineault’s unassisted score at 5:45 of the final frame gave Allen a two-goal cushion, and Fort Worth was unable to find the back of the net down the stretch despite pulling goaltender Brad Fogal with over two minutes remaining in regulation. Fogal (5-5-1) made his first start since November 23rd in Missouri, stopping 21 of 25 shots on net in a losing effort. Dell (6-3-0) made 25 saves on 27 shots to earn the victory.
