SAN JOSE, Calif. – The Calgary Flames earned an overtime win against the San Jose Sharks after giving up a four to one lead in their game Thursday evening.
Sam Bennett, Mark Giordano, Sean Monahan and Mikael Backlund all scored goals in the first period for the Flames. While Tommy Wingels scored the lone goal for the Sharks.
Subsequent goals, two in the second and two more in the third allowed the Sharks to get the go ahead goal with 14 minutes remaining in the third. Logan Couture and Patrick Marleau goals in the second and Joonas Donskoi and Dylan DeMello scored in the third.
Kris Russell’s power play goal just after the eight minute marker in the third tied the game, forcing overtime. With no goals in overtime the Flames win with goals from Joe Colborne and Jiri Hudler in the 6-5 final over the Sharks. Couture was the only skater for the Sharks to beat Jonas Hiller in the net.
Hiller (8 saves) was put in the net following an injury for Karri Ramo (29 saves in 57 minutes) late in the third period. Alex Stalock was in the net for the Sharks, with 17 saves.
