After clawing back a single goal deficit on 3 different occasions to force overtime, and eventually penalties, 3 consecutive strikes by Tuomas Santavuori, Marek Maslonka and Jens Eriksson during the tiebreaking round helped the Flames grab back to back wins with a 4-3 result on the road against Bracknell Bees.
Lukas Smital eliminated the prospect of a scoreless 1st period when he netted 45 seconds from time to take his club to the break up by a single.
Santavuori replied less than 7 minutes into the 2nd to bring the teams back to even terms, but another late period Bees strike, this one by Martin Pavlicek, had them holding the edge at 2-1 through 40 minutes.
A 47th minute Maslonka goal wiped that lead off the board and pulled the clubs level at 2 each, but just over a minute later the Bees were back in front yet again thanks to James Galazzi.
However, the Flames would not be denied on this occasion, and Andy McKinney retrieved the deficit for the 3rd time on the night when he tied it in the 50th minute to set up extra time and the penalty outcome where a trio of Flames goals were more than enough to cover the lone Bracknell tally by Luka Basic.
