SHEFFIELD, UK – Despite taking the lead in the first period the Steelers were hit by three unanswered Fife goals to go down to a 3-1 home defeat.
Steelers, under new head coach Tom Barrasso for the first time at the Arena, started well and created many chances in the first period.
It took until 18.51 before the Steelers broke through, Justin Buzzeo scoring off a Josh Pitt assist.
Both teams enjoyed power-play opportunities in the middle period without either side converting.
Fife finally equalised with 4.55 remaining in the second period when Evan Bloodoff fired from close range through Jackson Whistle just as the Steelers returned to full strength.
It was another power-play goal that was the eventual winner when Bret Bulmer scored 5 minutes into the final period.
Steelers came back throwing everything they could at the Flyers with Westerling and Pitt both going close.
Fife would score into an empty net with just 26 seconds on the clock for their third goal. Paul Crowder the scorer.
