PHN’s Best Shots of the Game: Devils thrash Sheffield, 6-2

SHEFFIELD, UK -A tough night for the Steelers going down 6-2 to champions Cardiff Devils.

The game was all but over in the first period after the Devils hit four unanswered goals.

Goalie Jackson Whistle was replaced in the 8th minute after Cardiff’s 3rd goal, the starting goalie had been unwell earlier today and had tried to make it through unsuccessfully

After Steelers had created chances of their own Cardiff struck at 4.25 when Stephen Dixon opened the scoring.

By 6.14 it was 2-0 after Craig Moore scored from long range.

With Jordan Owens in the penalty box the Devils converted on their first power-play with Layne Ulmer on the score sheet.

Brad Day replaced Whistle though he couldn’t do anything about Bryne Reddick’s wrist shot that made it 4-0.

Josh Pitt scored his 7th of the season at 16.36 with Eberle and Johnson assisting.

Cardiff would extended their lead to 6-1 by the end of the second period after further strikes from Martin and Dixon (2)

Jonathan Phillips scored the only goal of the 3rd period with McFadden and Buzzeo assisting.
