DAYTON, OHIO – In the last regular season game at Hara Arena, the Dayton squad put their petal to the medal fifteen seconds in and handle the Brewster Bulldogs 6-1.

Right off the face-off, Dayton went on the attack, connecting with Robert Vanwynsberghe deep in the slot from Michael Dolman and Martin Uhnak. The three high-flying forwards went to work on the right side of the ice before making it to the doorstep of Bobby Bowden. Vanwynsberghe chipped in his twelfth Dayton goal and his eighteenth overall, with Dolman picking up his first of three assists and Uhnak’s 46th. Dayton lead 1-0 right off the bat and never let go of the throttle. Nearly fourteen minutes later, Uhnak would pump in his first of three goals on the contest with Dolman and Vanwynsberghe on stand-by. The three forwards helped out on the first three goals of the game and four out of the six. At the 16:08 mark, Uhnak chased Bowden away from the net, scoring deep in the slot from Dolman and Vanwynsberghe for a 3-0 Dayton lead. Jeromy Semtner, recently on a loan to the ECHL’s Indy Fuel squad, took over in relief and for the 26th time on the season.

After Dayton jumped out to three goals, it was Cory Giroux giving the home team in the special tops a 4-0 lead. Giroux striking for his eleventh Dayton goal and his eighteenth overall was aided by the passing off Jacques Lamoureux and Ryan Timar, the two Air Force men in action. At the 13:05 mark, Brewster scores their lone tally on an Alex Johnson offering that cleared the goal line behind the stretched-out back of Jo St. Pierre. Johnson’s 22nd of the year was drove in with the pressure of Dustin Jesseau and John Scully. After the ice settled, Dayton led 4-1 after two.

In the third frame, Shea Carey crashed the house for Dayton’s fifth goal on the night at the 12:48 mark. Carey, along with Eric Witzel and Dan Loughlin, had a couple of sharp moves around the net. It was Carey tipping in his third goal of the year right past Semtner and the first of two in the period. Martin Uhnak, four minutes later, asked for the hats to rain upon the ice of Hara Arena by striking in his third on the night and his team-leading 36th goal of the season. Uhnak’s last goal of the regular season was provided by the third Vanwynsberghe assist on the night and Myles McCauley joining on the offensive line. In the end, Dayton won 6-1 on Military Appreciation Night for the last regular season game of the season.
