In a game that was close for the first twenty minutes of action, the Danville Dashers put an end to the suspense in the middle frame when they pulled away from the visiting Danbury Whalers to build a 5-2 lead heading to the second intermission.
Daniel Turgeon scored twice in the second period to break the game open after a two-all tie after the first period of play.
Gehrett Sargis chipped in two markers of his own in the winning effort; his first started the Dashers’ streak of seven unanswered goals.
In the third, Danville continued the offensive push with three more goals to make the final, 8-2.
Matt Anthony picked up the win on 20 saves and Mike Pearless took the loss for Danbury.
