PHN’s Best Shots of the Game: Columbus falls to Huntsville in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

HUNTSVILLE, AL – Scott Henegar gave the Huntsville Havoc a 3-2 (OT) victory over the Columbus Cottonmouths when he scored 27 seconds into the extra period. Henegar had a great game for Huntsville, netting two goals.

The Havoc’s offense was clicking better than usual and put 36 shots on goal during the game, better than the 29.2 shots per game they average.

Huntsville additionally got points from John Lidgett, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Huntsville received assists from Nolan Kaiser, Brett Lutes, Jeremy Beirnes, and Jason Popek, who contributed one each.

Columbus put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Huntsville to score on any of its four power plays. The Cottonmouths relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Louis Belisle, Shawn Bates and Rusty Hafner took 17 of the team’s 32 shots. Columbus’ defensemen played well offensively, producing two goals while racking up 14 shots.

Other players who recorded assists for Columbus were Ben OQuinn and Andy Willigar, who each chipped in one.

Kevin Genoe rejected 30 shots on goal for the Havoc. Huntsville incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Shannon Szabados made 33 saves for the Cottonmouths on 36 shots. Columbus incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
