SHEFFIELD – A humiliating night for the Sheffield Steelers as they went down 6-0 at home to the Glasgow Clan.
After a first period that the Steelers created chances in and were unlucky not to take the lead, the game disappeared in a mad 156 second period seconds in which Glasgow found the back of the net three times.
Clan doubled that lead in the final period with three more goals to heap more pressure on the Steelers in their race for a play-off position.
Steelers started the game welcoming Davey Phillips back from injury but without Jordan Owens whose wife gave birth earlier today.
In an even first period, the Steelers created chances but once again failed to capitalise on scoring opportunities.
Scott Pitt opened the scoring at 27.04 on the power-play whilst Davey Phillips sat out an interference minor.
At 28.42 it was 2-0 with Mac Howlett scoring.
Bad went to worse 58 seconds later when Vaclav Stupka made it 3-0 to the disbelief of the watching fans.
The third period gave little for encouragement as the Clan capitalised on chances as the Steelers tried to press.
Stupka scored his second at 50.00 (0-4)
Jack Musil made it 5-0 in the 52nd minute and Rasmus Bjerrum rounded off the scoring with the final goal of the night at 56.44 for a 0-6 final scoreline.
Steelers travel to Manchester on Sunday and Guildford on Wednesday before heading back to the Arena next Saturday for a home game against Guildford Flames.
