PHN’s Best Shots of the Game: Clan double-up Sheffield 4-2

SHEFFIELD, UK -Mark Matheson’s reign as Steelers coach started with a frustrating 4-2 loss to the Glasgow Clan.

Steelers welcomed Jonas Westerling back to the Arena before the game, played in front of 5,000 fans.

It was the Clan who started the better side as they raced to an early 2-0 lead with goals from Craig Peacock and Scott Pitt.

Chris Lawrence opened the Steelers account 2 minutes later with Ryan Martinelli and Jonathan Phillips assisting.

Steelers enjoyed good spells but once again failed to convert on the chances created.

Peacock scored his second, a power-play tip off a shot from Brendan Connelly at 36.24 to extend the Clan’s lead to 3-1.

Josh McFadden then brought the Steelers back to within one with a nice finish of a Tanner Eberly pass with just 71 seconds remaining in the middle period.

Steelers again out chanced the Clan in the final period but to no avail – the Clan in fact finding the back of the empty net with just 27 seconds on the clock.
