PHN’s Best Shots of the Game: Cardiff upend Steelers, 5-3

SHEFFIELD, UK – A disappointing night for the Steelers going down at home 5-3 against the Cardiff Devils.

Steelers had twice led in the first period, firstly after John Armstrong had given Paul Thompson’s side the lead after just 26 seconds (assisted Mathieu Roy and Jesse Schultz)PHN_BSOG-200x133

Then after Mark Richardson had equalised for the Devils at 4.11 – Armstrong grabbed his second at 8.30 (assisted Roy) to make it 2-1 at the end of the first period.

The second period belonged to the visitors with them scoring three unanswered goals in a devastating six-minute spell.

Steelers needed a big third period but things went from bad to worse when Devils man of the match Jake Morissette scored a 5th at 42.33

Ben O’Connor netted late on (50.25) to bring hope but it was a night when not a lot went right for the Steelers.

Mustukovs was pulled in the final minute with the Steelers ending up with a 6-on-3 powerplay.

With no further scoring the Steelers fell to their second Challenge Cup defeat.
