BOWLING GREEN, Ohio — The No. 19 Ohio State men’s hockey moved to 2-0-2 on the year after rallying for a 5-4 win at Bowling Green Friday in BGSU Ice Arena.
The teams will close the series at 7 p.m. Saturday in Value City Arena in Columbus. The game marks the Buckeyes’ home opener.
Ohio State 5, Bowling Green 4, Briefly
The Buckeyes opened the scoring just 1:10 into the game on a goal from freshman Ronnie Hein. The Falcons tied it at 3:23 with a power play goal but Buckeye junior Kevin Miller scored at 10:37 to put the Buckeyes back ahead. Buckeye sophomore Mason Jobst gave Ohio State a two-goal lead early in the second but the Falcons scored three times before the period ended to carry a 4-3 lead into the second intermission.
Just 34 seconds into the third Buckeye senior captain Nick Schilkey tied the game at four and at 9:38 freshman Tanner Laczynski put the Buckeyes ahead again (5-4). Both goals came on the power play. Each team had three power play goals in the game, with the teams combining for 12 power plays. Shots were 32-22 in favor of the Falcons.
On Saturday night in Columbus, the Buckeyes completed the sweep of the Falcons.

The game was the home opener for the Buckeyes, who are now 3-0-2 on the year. Ohio State scored twice in the third period to rally and beat the Falcons on the road Friday, 5-4.

The Buckeyes took control of the game early, opening the scoring with a power play goal at 5:38 and adding tallies at 11:51 and 15:56 to carry a 3-0 lead into the first intermission. Each team scored once in the second, with Ohio State’s goal coming at 4:43 and BG tallying at 7:48. Ohio State added goals at 8:07 and 16:04 of the third for the 6-1 final.
Each team had seven power plays, with Ohio State notching the only goal with the man advantage.
