PHN’s Best Shots of the Game: Brave take two from Mustangs in AIHL season opener Welcome back to the AIHL to PHN

MELBOURNE, Australia – Opening week end in Melbourne for the 2017 AIHL season, started with a Double header Melbourne Mustangs hosted the Canberra Brave.

The puck drops and it is game time, as it is the start of the season both teams were still finding their skates and it was a quiet game.  The opening frame ended with no score and only the one penalty for tripping.

The middle frame ramped up with Brave scoring 2-0 and only three penalties with six PIM.

The third period was time to take it up a notch to see what the teams are made of. Mustangs put two in the back of the net and tied the score at 2-2 with 8.44 to go on the clock. Mustangs defence let the next Brave goal through with three minutes left in regulation.  With no penalties for either team in the third the Mustangs were still in it with a chance, as they tried pulling their goalie which left Brave to shoot on an open net taking the final score Brave 4 -2 Mustangs.

Brave opened up the scoring in the 1st period through Domenic Jalbert against the Mustangs. The game was on today as it started off with a flurry and getting 10pims for the 1st period. At the end of the period the score was Brave 1 – Mustangs 0. In the second Mustangs responded quickly and at the end of the period the Mustangs were in the front 3-2.

The third period started as a  tight arm wrestle Brave placed the puck in the back of the net to tie the score and force it to a shootout. The Brave were successful in the shoot out to win the game 4-3.

 From the double header brave have taken away 5 points from the week end a great start for the 2017 season.
