INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Garett Bembridge scored twice including the game-winning goal to help the Indy Fuel (6-3-0-1) defeat the Alaska Aces (4-8-0-1) in the first-ever meeting between the two clubs.
Bembridge got the Fuel on the board just 3:01 into the game with a backhand that eluded Aces goalie Steven Summerhays (23 saves) on the glove side to make it 1-0.
After the Aces notched a pair of goals in the final 1:45 of the first period to grab a 2-1 lead, the Fuel returned the favor with two in the final 39 seconds of period number two. First Daniel Ciampini scored off a give-and-go with Alex
Lavoie to tie the game at 19:21 followed by Bembridge’s second goal of the night at 19:50, tipping in a Kevin Quick point shot past Summerhays to give the Fuel a lead it would not relinquish.
In the third period Shane Owen (35 saves) helped shut the door by stopping all 12 Aces shots faced to pick up his fourth win of the year – all coming at Indiana Farmers Coliseum.
