Andreas Siagris gave the visitors an ideal start chipping in at 1.12 with the game’s first goal. Ben Paynter levelled at 10.54 with a powerplay strike and Josh Martin put Bees ahead with 1.41 left in the opening period.
In the first period Streatham scored after 72 seconds, they scored in the second period after 73 seconds to level the game as Siagris bagged his second. A pair of second period goals by Roman Malinik at 27.28 and, on the powerplay, at 39.25 ensured the home team went to the second interval ahead 4-2.
Leigh Jamieson converted a powerplay 76 seconds into the third period and Alex Roberts brought parity at 52.55. Aidan Doughty scored at 55.36 to put Bees back ahead but a penalty to Josh Smith with 40 seconds to play proved crucial. Streatham went with an empty net and Leigh Jamieson scored his second of the night converting the powerplay at 59.36. At the same time Roman Malinik picked up a match penalty.
The game headed to overtime with Bees shorthanded it was 4 on 3. During overtime Ryan Watt returned from his earlier 10 minute penalty but the five minutes couldn’t split the teams. The first three shots of penalties were all saved and there was drama when Aidan Doughty got a retake for his shot as King was deemed to have moved too early. When Andreas Siagris scored the fifth penalty shot this left Josh Smith needing to score but his shot hit the post and come back out.
