PHN’s Best Shots of the Game: Beast fall late to Thunder

BRAMPTON, ON – David Ling had an assist in his first game back with the Beast but Brampton fell by a score of 4-2 to the Adirondack Thunder.

Brampton welcomed Adirondack to the Powerade Centre for a North Division clash on Sunday, January 7th. The Beast were looking for revenge from the previous day where the Thunder held on to win a 2-1 game.

Brampton started the game off well and peppered Thunder goalie Mackenzie Blackwood with shots and chances.

Adirondack responded by seizing a chance and opened the scoring with a goal from Pierre-Luc Mercier at 8:59. The forward was able to pot the rebound after the puck was kicked out into the slot by Beast netminder Andrew D’Agostini.

Brampton wouldn’t be down for long, as Luc-Olivier Blain was able to redirect a David Vallorani point shot past Blackwood to tie the game at 12:42.

Wille Corrin started the action by protecting the puck and flipping it on his backhand to Vallorani. He took the shot and Blain tipped it home for a 1-1 tie.

Brampton would head to the intermission with the shot advantage by a 15-7 count.

Adironack carried the pace of play in the second period and were rewarded with a 2-1 lead. Paul Rodrigues was able to send the disc past D’Agostini for the lead at 4:31.

Brampton fought back and was able to generate some sustained zone pressure but the Thunder were able to take a 2-1 lead into the second intermission. Shots on goal after two stood as 24-23 for Adirondack.

Brampton would come out in the third period looking to tie the game. They would achieve their goal courtesy of Chris Leveille. The speedy forward ripped a shot past Blackwood after a beautiful setup from Ling. It was Ling’s first game back in a Beast uniform and he set up the tying goal at 8:17.

Adirondack wouldn’t let the game slip away and potted a couple of quick goals at 15:31 and 17:26. Brian Ward would net the first and the aforementioned Mercier would slip home his second of the game.

Brampton would fall by a score of 4-2. D’Agostini would end the day with 31 saves and was tagged with the loss.
