MELBOURNE, Australia – The Melbourne Ice found themselves in another close contest last weekend. This time it was against the visiting Sydney Ice Bears.
Joseph Harcharik picked up a hat trick for the Ice Bears as they edged the Ice, 6-4.
The Bears took a 3-1 lead in the second after a scoreless opening frame.
Harcharik scored twice in the middle period to help the Bears.
In the third period, both teams opened up the offense and the Ice close to within 5-4 with eight minutes left on the clock. But Sydney managed to hold off any other advances from the Ice and Richard Tesarik scored his second of the game to ice Melbourne, 6-4.
It was not for lack of effort that the Ice lost as they launched 48 shots on Kamil Jarina who got the win with 44 saves.
Jaden Pine-Murphy had a tough outing in stopping 15 of only 20 Bears shots.
