WICHITA, Kan. – The Allen Americans defeated the Wichita Thunder 6-5 in a shootout on Sunday afternoon, rallying back from 5-3 deficit late in the third period, to tie the game at 5-5, and win it in a shootout 6-5.
Chad Costello scored twice for Allen, his 23rd and 24th of the season, while Greger Hanson scored his 16th late in the 3rd to tie the game.
Ian Schultz and Spencer Asuchak both scored in the shootout to lead Allen to victory. The Americans improve to 34-8-3-2 on the season, and now have a 19 point lead over second place.
The Americans return home tomorrow night at 7:05 pm against the Quad City Mallards.
