ALLEN, Texas – The Allen Americans were shutout at home on Saturday night, 4-0 by the Wichita Thunder. The Americans dropped their first game in regulation to Wichita this season in front of 5,850 at Allen Event Center.
Allen played with just seven forwards on Saturday night missing several key pieces. Bryan Moore was loaned to the San Jose Barracuda earlier in the day and Zach Hall was unable to play due to an injury. The Americans were outshot by the Thunder 33 to 25 for the game, and managed just 15 shots total through the first two periods.
“We couldn’t get our game going tonight,” said Americans Co-Captain Gary Steffes. “We’re not making excuses about playing with a short lineup, because we had plenty of firepower on the ice to get the job done. We just couldn’t get in rhythm tonight.
Former Americans forward Vincent Arseneau led the charge for Wichita with a goal and two assists. Arseneau was voted the number one star of the game. Wichita goalie Kent Patterson stopped all 33 shots to earn the second star.
The clubs play again on Sunday afternoon at 4:05 PM at Intrust Bank Arena in Wichita. Allen is 4-0-1 on the road in the season series this year. Bryan Moore leads the team in goals against Wichita this season with ten.
