PHN’s Best Shots of the Game: Americans fall to Mavericks 3-1 on Easter Sunday

phn-bsogALLEN, Texas – The Allen Americans dropped a 3-1 decision to the Missouri Mavericks on Easter Sunday in front of a crowd of 3,873 at Allen Event Center.

Americans rookie goalie Jake Hildebrand stopped 44 of 47 Mavericks shots suffering the loss. Josh Holmstrom’s deflection in the front of the Allen net on a great feed from Sebastien Sylvestre in the second period turned out to be the game winner for Missouri. Holmstrom finished the day with a goal and an assist and was a plus two.

DSC_3933“We waited until the third period to get going and by that time it was too late,” said Allen Americans defenseman Aaron Gens, who joined Tommy Daniels in the Americans broadcast booth today.”  We played hard in that final period, but only getting one shot on a five-on-three power play really hurt us.”

Tristan King had the only Allen goal scoring his 12th of the season on the power play in the third period. Casey Pierro-Zabotel and Chad Costello assisted on the King goal. Costello extended his point streak to 14 games with the helper.

The Americans return to action next Friday night in Missouri against the Mavericks.
