ALLEN, Texas – The Allen Americans (34-9-3-2) dropped a 2-1 decision to the Quad City Mallards (25-18-4-2) on Monday night, as Allen dropped its third straight home game.
The Americans only goal came in the second period when Spencer Asuchak, (6) lit the lamp for the second game in a row, Jesse Messier and Garrett Clarke with the assists. The Asuchak, Messier and Clarke line was Allen’s best line tonight creating chances as well as playing as physical game.
Justin Fox and Kevin Baker scored for Quad City, with Baker’s goal turning out to be the game winner, his 9th of the season. The Mallards outshot the Americans 34 to 26 for the game. Neither team was able to convert with the man-advantage (Allen 0-2) (Quad City 0-3).
“I thought we were tired tonight,” said Americans Head Coach Steve Martinson. “Despite the fact we outplayed them in the first period, we couldn’t finish. “The three in three with a lack of practice finally caught up to us.”
The Americans are home on Wednesday night against the Wichita Thunder at 7:05 pm. Tickets are on sale at Allen Event Center Box Office or at www.ticketmaster.com.
