ALLEN, Texas – Allen, Texas – The Allen Americans dropped Game 5 at home on Sunday afternoon to the Missouri Mavericks by a 3-1 score, in front of 4,883 fans at Allen Event Center.
Greger Hanson, opened the scoring for Allen with his 6th of the postseason just 4:33 into the opening frame, but that’s where the offence went away for Allen. Missouri scored the next three including the game winner in the second period, shorthanded, to keep the series alive.
“It was disappointing we didn’t close it out when we had the opportunity,” said Americans forward Gary Steffes. “We ran into a desperate team that outworked us and earned the win. We will fix the problems by Tuesday.”
Game 6 is on Tuesday night at 7:05 PM back in Missouri, with Game 7 (if necessary) on Wednesday night. The Americans outshot Missouri 30-27 for the game but went 0 for 6 with the man-advantage.
